Michael Utley is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer with a net worth of $15 million. He is best known for his work with Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, where he is the musical director. Utley was born in Blytheville, Arkansas in 1947 and was a member of the house band for Atlantic Records, playing keyboard instruments for artists such as Aretha Franklin, the Allman Brothers, and Jerry Jeff Walker. He also played with Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge.
Utley was recruited by Jerry Jeff Walker to play keyboard instruments on Jimmy Buffett’s debut major label album A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean in 1973. He began touring with the Coral Reefers in 1983. In addition to his work with Buffett, Utley has released several albums including Mad Music MCA, Jubilee, Heat, Club Trini, Back in Town, and Margarita Café: Late Night Live with Robert Greenridge as Club Trini.
